I need help figuring out some good/interesting tankmates for guppies.

right now I have a 30 gallon tank. It is fully cycled and full of live plants, drift wood and river rocks (i even built a river rock cave).

It is currently home to:
--8 fancy guppies (2 female 6 male)
--1 male black molly (I got three molly's a while back. Long story short I lost 2, and they were not originally housed with the guppies (the guppies were given to me by a friend who didn't want them anymore :(
--1 cory catfish

I would love to hear any suggestions on what else i should add to my tank, i would love something a bit more interesting.

<3 thanks :)

I'm kind of in the same situation except 3 guppies 6 platys and 1 oto, I've been thinking about getting some Gouramis for some larger more colorful fish, just got to find the right ones for my high PH and won't kill its tank mates.

Btw post some pictures :-) we would love to see how your tank looks

edit; weird I just realized we had the same amount of fish and the same amount in each group, 9 livebearers 1 catfish although yours is rather larger then mine :-)

That's funny. I was also considering gourami's. I was leaning twards a few honey gourami's. I would love to post a pic of my tank... unfortunately the tank i have is second hand and it didn't take long for the hood lights to go out.. the fixture itself. So i am going to have to buy a new hood. :( Maybe I can get a good shot? lol

Maybe you should look at rewiring it for screw in bulbs(CFL), I've been looking to do the same to my hood, as I think they are cheaper then tube lights, I've read somewhere on here they put out more light per watt then standard tubes plus you can keep the same spares for your house as for your tank! Also you wont have to deal with a ballast going out again.

Is usually suggested to have three females for every male with livebearer,s lest the males pester the lone two females to death(literally).
Cory's are social fish that feel less stessed in groups of five or six. While some may survive and perhaps thrive as loners,, they will not display nearly as well as they do in groups.
Perhaps pristella tetras ,blood fin tetras,or glow light tetras would interest you . they adapt to a wide range of water parameters from soft water to slightly hard alkaline water.
