feeding bugs from outside
Any reason not to feed ants? my angels seem to like them. I have lots of different ants here, is there any to avoid? I was just trying the sugar ants I think they are called (the ones that raid your kitchen) but may try some of the larger type. I do so much work to culture stuff indoors but I thought why not take advantage of the plentiful and zero maintainence cultures outside.
Thanks, you've just given me a thought. I've ants all over the garden during the spring/summer/autumn months. They are small, the basic ones that get everywhere. My hatchetfish would love them. Don't know why I didn't think of this before. When I had my frog and newt they regularly received flies and the occasional earthworm. Never thought of ants for the fish.
As long as you don't use any type of insecticide or chemical they could pick up, and I use nothing like that in the garden, I would think they should be fine.
"you learn something everyday"
I would have never thought to feed ants to fish, haha I LOVE THIS FORUM!! :-)
Finally! A reason for me to not "hate" ants, lol.
To bad my darn apartment complex sprays a lot for bugs and to help the grass. Thats a great idea.
Going along with this them, what about roaches? The thread about the hissing roaches got me thinking
They are too big, you'd have to chop them up...eeuuwww!
Not as baby's though right? Im going to be stocking puffers also, im sure they would just tear the hell out of em lol
I've given my convict flies before and he enjoys them. Every time I kill one it goes straight to the tank lol
