pass peacock bass...they get way to big. some can get up to 3.5 feet.

are you looking for peaceful or aggressive?
there are oscars and severums(which could all under both), firemouths, africans, and what not, thier aggressive, convicts
or discus, angelfish, dwarf cichlids which are more peaceful

herefishy 03-28-2007 07:05 PM

For the beginner, I'd recommend Salvinii, Port cichlids, Keyhole cichlids, Geo. balzanii, Geo. braziliensis, Geo. juripari. The geophagus family will sift gravel, but those mentioned should not uproot plants. They are kind of neat, too.

if you like aggresive fish you should check out the jaguar. they have a wonderful blueish purple hugh to them and they have teeth to shred feeders with.

Gump 04-13-2007 01:01 PM

Jaguire cichlids are central americans.
