Woohoo!!

Well, as the geek I am- I don't keep just fish. I have kept and bred many reptiles and other exotic animals as well many times in the past.

I am ridiculously into bugs. Might sound stupid or weird but I am an especially big fan of madagascar hissing cockroaches. I had 7 adults in a small kritter keeper today and while at work apparently one exploded into a cluster of a ton of babies.

I am excited because although roaches seem easy to breed, this is the first time I've ever bred these bad boys in captivity (I say this because I had the same roaches lose in my apartment in Texas- they bred, but it had nothing to do with what I did lol).

My wife and I heard a hissing noise from the living room yesterday but didn't bother checking on them. Today she said she heard it all day- I guess thats when it happened.

For anyone who doesn't know and is interested at all, these roaches can be longer than 3" long, they hiss very loudly when threatened, although they make awesome display/pet insects. They do not bite, and are slow enough as adults that handling them is VERY easy. They are active and spend quite a bit of time outside of hide spots in their cage, and eat whatever you have at the time so feeding isn't an issue.

In the past I have used them at my daughters school and they were a hit.

BTW- If anyone in the reptile section likes them at all, or wants any I DO have many babies lol- shoot me a PM or something.

hahahaha, I will most definitely post some pictures as soon as I get home from work.

These guys are admittedly a bit creepy at first. My wife was skeptical, but with how big and chill they are, it is more like having some sort of small animal pet than anything.

Looking forward to pics! Bugs aren't my thing but I still find them fascinating!

Man, that's alot of babies. I'm going to have to go youtube these guys so I can hear what their hissing sounds like. They don't freak me out to look at them but I doubt I could handle one crawling in the palm of my hand. Yikes.
