new pleco acting funny?

maybe he isnt acting funny but i think he is.... my old plecs would stick to one spot for a length of time while this one likes to constantly move. got him yesterday, is he just adjusting to his surroundings? also i saw him sucking on the heater, is this normal?

i think this is perfectly normal. he will settle down after a while. mine did the same. sucking the heater is also fine.

Sorry poobear, i cannot disagree with you more, unless of course you have a heater guard?

Sucking a bare heater is NOT at a good idea for a pleco, have you felt how hot they get? If it is sucking it you need to invest in a guard, what also may be a good idea is to post some photos of the pleco as if this is in your 20 gal tank and its a common then don't get too attached to it, its going to outgrow your tank very soon.

well it wasnt sucking on the heater for too long, maybe a minute before it went and hid. ill probably move him into my 29 gallon as he starts to grow. then a buddy of mine has a 100 and an 80 gallon aquarium and he might be able to take him off my hands if he gets to big.
