Mollies pregnant now what?
So I bought 2 pairs of wild sailfin mollies and they look great. One of the females is definatly going to give birth soon as I can see the large black spot near her abdomen. Do mollies release thier fry all at once. If I wanted to keep a large number of fry how would I go about doing so? I will have to post pics or something because the males are absolutely stunning.

You have two options, you can add a divider to the tank and segregate your females shortly before they give birth, or you can get a breeder box. Nevermind, you have three options, you could also set up a fry tank for them to give birth in. I ended up disliking the two kinds of breeder box I tried. I went with the dividers and that proved to be least stressful. They give birth over a few hours period. Unless they're my fish, in which case, they squirt out one then wait two days to have the rest.

That's all largely up to you and what you're willing to do. A lot of people just let nature take it's course. As long as you have lots of plants and a rock substrate a few will survive. Usually the survivors prove to be quite healthy.

I'd love some pictures.

Iif her gravid spot is dark and big like the size of this -> "O" then id say you have a week(give er take a few days)When you see her swimming really slow and her stomach area is square and looking like shes going to burst she will be close to having fry i suggest a breeder net and setting up a breeder net. the mom may very well eat her fry if she is with them long enough, in my case (about 2 weeks ago)i had her in the breeder net and she would pop one out and eat it asap. Because i wanted to keep the fry what i did was set up a tank seperator when i knew she was deff about to have them, then when she started having them id catch them with a net b4 the mom could get to them and put them on their own side of the seperator (totaly seperated from other fish they will eat em too) your mollie might not release all her fry at once and it can take her hours or a day to fully have them all, so be prepared for that. hope it goes well for u. =]

Thanks for the comments guys. I have a spare 10 gallon running I might use that once I finish QT some fish I will be getting. I think she is still some ways from releasing fry. The tank is a 55 with rocks and I am trying to buy driftwood and plants to go in the tank also. Here are some crappy pics of them. The pics really do not do them justice. The dominant male has a bright yellow head and an amazing sailfin. I might put a video up later to show it.
