Whats this ' goo ' coming from my apple snail??

Yesterday I saw this goo coming from my golden apple snail, I don't know what it is. Later I watched as my black apple snail damn near swallowed the golden one! One stuck to the other for nearly an hour. Is this normal or were they mating?

I'd say this is the equivalent of the "wet spot". My guess is they were mating.
