Do fry have a daddy complex?
I noticed a little while ago that my mystery platy fry seem to be schooling with the Betta. He's tolerating their presence well enough. At first I thought it was neat when I saw they were unafraid of him, but today I've been watching and they follow him around like little puppies. He even let them eat with him. Usually, he chases them off but today he was tolerant of them trying his food and playing peekaboo in his fins. I'm just curious if that was a standard thing? The cutest part was when I put the mirror up to the side of the tank to show the children, one of the fry stayed right below him the whole time as he whipped, puffed and flared. :-P

hahahaha iv had the same behaviour from guppy fry hiding with a big blue gourmai i had...i mean she was about 8 inch so she could have easily have eaten them but they went and hid and swam with her ....but no i dont think its instinct for livebearer fry to stay by "parents" or other fish in the tank :):):)

Aww!! Thats cute. I heard that fry and their parents can tolerate after the fry are a couple of weeks old. :P
Maybe the fry look like your betta when he/she was a fry. Never know about animals and their interesting stories like this. :3
