Guesstimate on Guppy pregnancy?
I had no idea how to tell if guppies were pregnant (I'm very new at this) so when I got these three guppies (three female), I wasn't sure what the black patch was. Well, I looked it up aaaannnddd......found out I'm a grandmother to be! XD Now, could anyone tell how long they have till they have babies? I have a fifty five gallon with only a few fish, so I really want to keep as many babies, err...fry, as possible. I'm going to attempt to put pictures up, but my camera (for it's 14.1 megapixels worth! Grrrrr) is pretty terrible for taking pictures of close up things. And no, it doesn't have the awesome close up mode my last two hundred dollar camera had....grrrr. Oh well, bygones be bygones!
Anywho, off topic heehee. Anyone have a pretty decent guess so I can start watching for little ones?
Thanks so much, glad to be here!
P.S. Please don't mind the 'kitchen' behind the glass. It's my baby tank and pretty recently set up...haven't yet gotten a background for it. ^-^ In the dark ones, I simply tried to eliminate the background so my camera would actually focus....it's just a towel lol.
all females pregnant or not will have a gravid spot (the black mark)......and pregnancy in usually around 4 weeks :)......but when they do start having babys scoop them out of your main tank and buy a breeder net and keep them in there or if you have a 2nd tank then put them in there :)....good luck ....and sorry to put a downer on things but it dosnt look like your going to be getting fry soon because they dont look too fat yet......:):):)
if in doubt ...buy a male :):):):):):):):)
Thank you for your reply! I'm trying to cram a lot into my head about these little guys lol. I know they don't look too fat, but my one's gravid patch is SO dark and huge! Her belly itself doesn't seem to get much bigger, but the gravid patch does, lol!
Well, anywho, one of their tankmates died, but that's a different thread on here....I don't know whats the matter, but I might not get any fry at all and lose my fish if it continues... *cries*
