It comes on but wont pump back into the tank. I took everything apart and cleaned it all real good. Didnt replace any media, so im wondering if maybe my media is too clogged. What does the impeller do when it goes out? DOes it even spin?
The impeller may still spin, but there is a spindle in there (part of the impeller) that may also crack/break... along with the magnetic connection which can be interrupted if really full of muck.
Try running the filter with no media and see what it does. That will be the fastest and easiest way to determine if it is indeed the media that is clogged. Its easy to set the baskets into a bucket of tank water while you do this, to preserve bacteria culture until you determine what needs to be changed, if anything.
If the filter pumps fine without any media, then try adding 1 basket at a time back into it to determine which one is causing the issue. If you run it after each addition you will quickly find where the problem is.
Another thing to check is for air bubbles... that was always my biggest issue with those filters and why I prefer Eheim, which has an easy primer on it. 1 or 2 pumps on the primer button and the air bubbles are dispelled that quick.
If I can think of anything else that may be causing your issue I will come back and post. Let me know if any of those things solves your problem, please.
thanks for the help! ill try that tonight and see what happens.
