Brown Algae

One of my 10 gallon aquariums developed a pretty nasty looking brown algae infestation. I temporarily rehomed my bulldog pleco in there to see if he would eat it, and he did. All of the smooth surfaces and the larger decorations are now algae free. The problem is that he isn't touching the algae on the fake plants. I don't want to take them out and clean them for fear of killing off my BB filter.

Thoughts?

How long has this tank been set up? Brown diatoms are VERY common in new tanks (plecos and otos LOVE the stuff) and after a time it will usually completely abate.

The tank is about 2 months old, fully cycled. So it should just go away in time?

I would think so. It looks like brown "fuzz", yes??

Something like that. Kinda slimy looking too.

It sounds just like brown diatoms. It should go away soon enough. :-)
