New Cherry Barbs
I just got my tanks set up (90 gallons) with 6 cherry barbs as well as 2 peppered cories and 6 algae eating shrimp. I've been watching them for the better part of the day and 5 of the barbs have been fairly active, though one has been keeping to itself (looks like a damaged tailfin :(). The other one looks a bit plump and has been hiding out between my hornwort for the whole day. I think it's a female as it doesn't have the brighter red coloration of some of the others I got. It does come out to look at the rest of the tank, but prefers to hang out by the hornwort. Any ideas? I'm thinking there will be some fry showing up soon.

Females are rather beige in color so don't expect any red coloration from them. Males are the ones that get the deep cherry red color.

Of the (formerly 6) barbs, 3 are identifiably red. The female was slightly active for a while yesterday but this afternoon, she went under her favorite hornwort and died. :( I don't think it was anything tank related as ammonia levels are still way to low to register and the rest of the fish are very active. I didn't see any white bumps or such on any part of her.

What are your water parameters right now?:) Do water changes straight away if you detect ammonia and nitrites.:)

Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates are still all registering as 0.
