Angels water Temp
Im still setting up my 55 and I havent gotten any heaters yet. but I did put a themp strip on it and it is reading a steady 74, on perk to living in florida i guess. Is that a good temp for angels? Or do I need to invest in a heater sooner then I though. I planned on getting one for winter time, but hoping I can get through the summer with out one
That's a little cool for angels. I keep mine at 78-80F.
10-4. For a 55 would two smaller heaters at ethier end be better then one large heater in the middle?
Either way...it's your preference. There are advantages to using 2 heaters.
Pros: - if one heater fails you have a backup
- more even heating
Cons: - more wires to detract from the tank view
- more expense buying 2 heaters rather than one
I just have one heater in each of my 55's but if I ever get that 6 footer tank I've been wanting I will definitely use 2 heaters.
From my experiences I would definitely recommend two heaters in any tank 4 feet in length. There is considerably less chance of malfunction because neither heater is working as hard or as long to maintain the set water temperature. Also, two allows one at either end and they should be next to the filter outflow and intake respectively if these can be at opposite ends of the tank which they should be with angels. The least water movement for these sedate fish the better, and a good canister provides this.
I am getting a canister tomorrow to set up for it
