White Clouds changing color with additives
White Cloud owners,
Do your White Clouds ever change color?? My oldest one is 3 years old and originally started in a 2 1/2 gal with neons and a Betta, no live plants just fake, Never changed colors and only additives ever used was Stress coat, BettaFix, and Quick Cure. After everybody else died White Cloud lived in tank for 6-9 months alone.
I moved up to a 20gal added the original White Cloud and added 2 more, 4 Red Wag Platys (also have populated since purchase, I now have 6 frye, 2 each from 3 batches), and 1 Yo-yo Loach and this week I transfered an aggressive Honey Gourami over from other tank to settle him down. When I got the Loach he introduced Ick and I treated with half doses of Formalin. Two of the White Clouds(my oldest female and my young male) turned a black color. Once all treatment was done they gradually turned back to their original color over about a week.
I reworked my tank over this last week and tripled the plant population and used Plant Gro (Iron enriched) by Nutrafin plant fertilizer. I have used this same product 3 or 4 other times in this tank and never saw any changes. This week when I used it I noticed the next day the White Clouds (all of them) have turned a black color (same color as when I used the Formalin). Any ideas as to what is causing this??
No changes in behavior or health. Everyone is doing well. I did have a small ammonia spike earlier this week but after a 25% change everything was back to normal the next day. Are White Clouds sensitive to certain minerals or such?? I in the 3 years of having this one I have never seen sensitivity to anything.I have never had disease with these guys except with the Ick a month or so ago my old one had one spot on her lip.
I only use Stress Coat. I'm trying to getting into a regular cycle of feeding my plants and will be switching to Flourish as soon as I find something small to measure with.
I haven't notice any color change with my white clouds.:) I would only assume they were reacting to the medications you applied. Some fish do that, some don't.:)
Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. It was just weird since it had only happened one other time. Bizzaro
