My dwarf gouramis have just bred... what next?

I've just watched my dwarf gouramis laying eggs in the community tank. This wasn't exactly planned, so I don't have another tank set up for the fry... in fact, this was entirely beginners luck and I don't have another tropical tank at all!

So I have loads of questions:
  • Do I have to resign myself to the fry being eaten when they hatch?
  • Will the male protect the young when they first hatch or will he eat them himself?
  • Would it be possible to float a plastic container in the tank and transfer the bubble nest to that - or would that risk upsetting the male and maybe make him aggressive to the other fish?
  • How quicly do I need to act to save the eggs?
The tank is pretty densely planted, but it's populated with zebra danios, harlequins, neons, rams and kuhli loaches. I figure the fry have no chance where they are.
