Honey Gouramis Question??
OK...so I picked up two honey gouramis from my lfs today...they were the last two. But my question is that one of the two seems to always to be swimming to the surface for air, while the other hasn't done it at all.
I am new to gouramis...so I didn't know if this was normal or if something might be wrong with the little guy????
its fine for gouramis to go 2 the surface of the water to get air as in the wild tehy live in water which has little oxygen so they have adapted a respiratary organ to get oxygen from the surface of the water.
That's what I thought as well.....but I can home today and found in dead!!! He looked as if he had some white stuff around his lips (not ick)?? And I double checked all the water parameters and everything looked fine?
So what gives?? I am saddened by this sudden loss!!
could be a wee fungal infection if the white stuff looks kinda cotton-wooly?
Yeah I kinda I guess...but there wasn't very much at all. If that was the case, for furture refernence what do you think the fungis was?? And what's the best way to treat it?
Thanks for all the info!!
if its only a wee bit then thats probably not what killed it. i had 2 mollies with a fungal infection and they had a fair bit of it on them. i treated them with "aquarium treatment 8 - anti fungus and finrot" and they recovered 100% within a few days
sorry about your fish :( RIP
