Cat sitting on Bottom of Tank
I have a freshwater cat fish, but I'm not sure what kind. Hes pretty small, about 4'' and I don't think hes a cory cat. He has a flat belly and only swims on the bottom. Usually, he is quite active and zips along the bottom only. Well, recently, he's been very lathargic. All he does is sit in a dark spot under a plant buy some other decorations. He turns around every once in a while, but he is very inactive. I was thinking maybe hes hungry? There are other fish in the tank - 55gal - that eat most of the food before it gets to the bottom. I have some shrimp pellets, but hes not interested.
Can you give a little more info about the tank please?
What other fish do you have in there, how long has the tank been established, and what are your water readings - ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
It would also be helpful if you could provide a picture of the fish and we'll try to identify it for you.
So sorry, forgot to add it.

Whisper dual filter filtration system
Just recently added a few fish. All others are doing perfectly fine. The tank has been established for a year. It was recently moved, though. But, that was several weeks ago.
All readings are exactly where they should be. Just had it tested at Petco
I had a few of the new fish die, not sure how though. They looked fine the first day. You don't think he's just been eating them and he's just stuffed do you? Thats kinda what I was thinking, but I'm no expert.
Other fish include:
And a few others - All peaceful.
I'll get a pic up as soon as the suns up!
We will need to identify your catfish first. A lot of them are rather nocturnal and may not be active during certain times.
I'll get a pic up as soon as I can.
You say that you have your water tested at petco? Did they give you the exact readings they recorded?
Personally, I wouldn't recomment getting a petstore to test water parameters for you. You would be much better to get a liquid test kit, such as API master test kit and do it yourself.
Oh, and I forgot to say in my previous post... welcome to the forum qwertmonkey :)
have you recently changed your filter media? Wisper filters arent that good on the bio-logical side.....
Well, I think I might have an idea. He kind of has a little area thats enclosed. Thats where he's hanging out. It seems as if when ever someone else comes near, he quickly chases them away.
Could there be some eggs hidden back there? Or is it just his claimed territory?
Filters were changed, but biological balance is perfect, IMHO
