Stocking question 46 gal.

Hello all,

I have a 46 gal. with 2 blue gouramis and 1 angelfish. The gouramis don't bother the angelfish and vice versa. But the time has come to look for more fish to add. The tank has been up and running for 3 months now with one issue a month or so back where my water emitted a very foul odor. After following the advice of several members of this here board the odor never returned.

I am looking to get another 1 or 2 angelfish, but what other fish will be compatible with my 2 blue gouramis and angelfish? I am planning on picking up 3 fish tomorrow and probably a few more in a couple of weeks. Thank you! http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums...lies/smile.gif

I could not recommend more angelfish in your present setup. Adding new angels to a tank with one angel (who by now considers the space "his" or "hers") is likely to create problems and new fish will be stressed enough and incapable of handling this. Angels should be in mated pairs or in a small group, as they are shoaling fish, but a 46g is not much room unless you go with only angels (the gourami are too similar). My advice would be to decide whether you want angels or gourami, and proceed accordingly; the fish store will probably take back whichever if you buy more fish.

Byron.
