Starting Questions

Hello all. I am new to fish aquariums and am looking at getting my first tank set up shortly. I went to a nearby LFS and it looks like they are pretty good. They refused to sell a fish to a customer after they found the conditions the fish would be going into were dangerous. :)

I'm looking at getting a 90gallon tank complete with stand and cover. As I have 4 cats, I am looking at doing the cannister filter systems for the fish to keep the cats from getting behind the stand. So far I've decided on doing a freshwater setup with live plants.

As I live in Colorado, I do intend on using a UPS setup (too many brown outs and too many power spikes from lightning) and wanted to have a multiple cannister for the tank. I'd like to lean on the over filter side and was wondering if there were some recommendations for what I should set up. Any ideas?

what type of fish were you thinking of putting in there? i know that if you over filter, and the flow is too strong depending on the fish, deflecting it against the side of the tank will slow it down a bit if you have fish that need/want more peaceful currents

I've actually already got the tank and decided to go with a single Eheim Pro II. The water isn't too bad. I probably could adjust the flow, but it seems to be working well and the instruction manual was pretty pathetic in describing things. :p Took a bit to get the filter up and running despite the instructions preventing me. :p My only concern is I didn't see what the packet was for in the instructions setting up the filter and just hope it wasn't crucial. The filter's running fine with no leaks, so I'm not too concerned. My German's too pathetic anymore to translate the packet.

my instruction manual was pretty pathetic too, thogh for a totally different filter. oh well, glad youve got the tank started :)
