- - species 44
:wave:Hey all...just got some new fish - couldn't resist colour. Knew they were african cichlids, store owner knew nothing. I've tracked them down to "species 44" , Tanganyika cichlid. Any help for behaviour/size? They seem kind of agressive so I'll probably put them in with my venustus eventually. They're small, but I'm pretty sure I have 2 females & 1 male (yippee!)

Congrats on the new fish (:-)) and I just have to say:
Good One. I'm sure Larry would have appreciated it - he had to have been a man with a sense of humour!
I know the pics would be helpful - I just don't have the technology. I was hoping someone might know about them anyway. I'm going to try going on the web to find something and see if I can figure out how to "attach" it. Told you - I'm not great at this, but am still working on it when I get time.

Heres what I came up with when I did a google search, its a lovely fish is it the one your referring to ?
Thanks, yes that's pretty much it although my male has more blue and purple on him and not quite as much red. The body pattern and shape look the same. My smaller ones are a bit different colour variations again, one has more yellow and purply red, almost no blue - so that's why I call them my rainbow fish; they kind of keep changing.
Did you get any other info in your search? I only found general stuff - colourful but aggressive cichlid blah blah.
Thanks Magzmoir. P.S. What type of tanks do you have? And where in Scotland are you from? Aberdonian/Highland mix here (from the Grandparents).
