What do you feed them?

vinniemabuna 03-14-2007 08:07 AM

:D Hi I feed them New life spectrum pellets crushed ,plus flakes with krill, spirulina etc, the maleis the one with the lines , he and I hope a few other will turn blue with black lines a beautiful fish, the females are orange -yellow....

poohbeah 03-15-2007 12:39 AM

So if they young are they all like a yellow orange colour and only change to their real colour when they grow older? Are they all malawis?

vinniemabuna 03-15-2007 01:12 PM

Hi, yes they are born yellow -orange, the females stay that color . The males or first the dominate male starts changing at 1.5 inches or so, if you have a large enough tank the other males will color up later. , or enough hiding places . Ill post photos of my male changing ASAP. Ive seen a guy in Isreal who has a 400 gallon tank with just Ps Saulosi and he has alot of males with great color.. :P

is taht some kinf of fry tank in the last photo? my two jewels are having fry at this momenty and i've been contemplating if i must leave them be or must i also get one of those little fry tanks that you hang in the top of your tank? isn't it cruel to take their young away?

vinniemabuna 03-16-2007 12:37 AM

:D Hi, no those are my new albino bristlenose plecos, they are 1.25 inches, I separated them because their small to make sure their not harassed by the saulosi.. I got them from sonic on aqua bid, great fish and guy. My saulosi were from JNS tropical in Wisconsin again great guy + fish.. :P http://www.fishforum.com/userpix/536_Fishy_079_1.jpg
