Safe weight for decor?
I just got a few hundred pounds of decorative rock and stone, and obviously I don't plan on using all of it, especially not just yet, but I was curious about how much weight is safe for my aquariums.
I'd like to put one chunk of stone I have into a 10 gallon that is set up as a newt tank, so only half full, and the stone weighs probably almost 30 pounds, so i don't know if this will be unsafe, as well as my 55 gallon tank, which I'm curious if i can sneak two or three of the big slabs of rock, which may end up being almost 100 pounds of rock right there, so I don't want to take any risks.
It seems like people have huge stone decor in alot of tanks, so I'm just curious if there's a safe point I should look out for with the bottoms of the tanks.
This is a fantastic question. I was just wondering about this myself earlier today. I have about 30 or so pounds of rock in my 20 gal, along with aanother 20 pounds of gravel.
