no , not now:(
well my gourami is reaching 5cm and geting quite confident with my ADULT MALE PLATY and hes losing (the gourami) so honey has now moved on to the fry that are bigger and are in the main tank....i had 8 larger fry so i moved them into the main tank then i found 1 dead....so i moved 5 back and the other 2 are missing ....he is now showing his agressive side....its odd but he dosnt bother my adult male guppy??
coment if you can help :)
gourami's need to be kept as pairs... that is probably why you see such aggression.
sorry but he'll keep acting that way until there are more gourami's.
Personally when I've had them I always kept a min of 4 in a tank.
My suggestion, get at least one more.
Also your specific species likes highly planted tanks with floating stuff as well. As a side bit of info.
Btw I refer to "he" even though they are hard to tell unless they show color lol... anyways good luck!!!
Let us know how it turns out.
yes its a he ....and i have both live planted plants and floting :)
in that case I refer back to getting 1-3 more to add to your tank, as long as it can support them.
I've kept only one in a community tank and they just are aggressive as can be... by adding more of the same species they get a lot better.
gouramis r like bettas they dont like company.
I disagree with that, I've raised them for years in a 100g tank with community fish.
they can be picky, but I never had issues with them... I kept 6-10 at a time in the same tank with everything else.
also you can't say that about beta's because they do well with other fish.
Though some gouramis can be a little irritable with each other, it's usually the bigger ones that do that (I'm looking at you, Gold Gourami). The little guys typically do fine in a community setting, in my experience.
I agree with the previous poster in that a few more fish may very well curb aggressive tendencies. There's a chance it may not, but it's at least worth a try.
I use to have 4, 2 gold and 2 blue Gouramis. One of my blues was the biggest of the 4 and he didn't want to play nice at all...needless to say I gave him to my son-inlaw who has a 55 gallon and he seems happy being the only Gourami in there.
