Adventures in Shoprite

So I go to Shoprite and I'm standing and looking at the houseplants. I'm very quietly looking. And I see one plant... moving. I lean down and I see either a really large mouse or a baby rat sitting in the pot with his hand around the stem, chewing away.

I walk over to a guy stocking fruit and I gesture for him to lean toward me and I whisper "There's a mouse in the houseplants." and he gets scared looking. I lead him over and the mouse/rat is gone. I lean down and see a little nose peeking out from behind a plant. When I move the plant, the mouse/rat takes off towards his end and he jumps back, I swear he was gonna scream.

I left the guy to it but I said, "You're not gonna hurt it though, right?" And he says "No! I don't even wanna go near it." As I made my way around produce he was back to stocking fruit and I think the mouse/rat was probably back to eating palm trees.

Needless to say I'll be washing my produce very very well from now on.

That's so funny. We get birds in our stores.

Great story. Sounds like the mouse found a nice little place to call home!

My husband says he's more disturbed by the wussy stock boy then the mouse. He wrote headlines for the story....

"Big Mouse Scared of Rodent"

"Palm Tree Mysteriously Eaten; Mousey Stockboy Held for Questioning"

"Mouse Runs Down the Aisle and Resumes Work"

You wouldn't believe the stuff I've seen @ my local shoprite....

The only thing I've seen run from a mouse that fast was my now deceased 18 lb. Maine Coon Cat named Calzini.

I only wish I had a video camera handy because she couldn't get her footing on the hardwood floors and was bouncing off the walls trying to get under my bed.

Aboslutely hysterical!! I should have named her Wuss.

Ha! I'd like to have seen that too. Good thing you didn't tape it, the other kitties would laugh her off the block! :P
