water in your CO2 regulator? (AKA where to put a check valve?)
I have nothing but issues with this pressurized CO2 set up. :roll: It's currently set up like this (I found this info on the internet):
CO2 tank -> regulator with needle valve and solenoid (on timer)----> bubble counter ----> check valve ----> diffuser
However, every night when the solenoid turns off, the flow seems to reverse somehow. Water from the tank fills the diffuser and goes down the line toward the check valve. More concerning: distilled water drains from the bubble counter and down the line... coming thiiiiiiis close to flowing into the needle valve.
Is something wrong here? I'm nervous about having water come so close to entering my needle valve. I wonder if I should have the check valve between the regulator and the bubble counter.
Thoughts? How do you have yours set up?

yes you should have 2 check valves, one before and after the bubble counter for good measure. You should be using good, brass or stainless check valves. I've tried the plastic ones and they tend not to work in a CO2 setup. IDK why that is.... or they will work for a while then fail eventually....
For some reason, my LFS only has plastic ones. Hmm. Guess I'll have to invest in a couple better ones. Thanks for the input :)
