My Bumblebee Platy had 1 fry need advice
I have a 1 Bumblebee Platy in a 10 gal. tank with 1 dwarf cory, 1 bushynosed pleco baby. This morning I noticed 1 baby fry. I put a floating breeder box in the 10 gal. tank and put my bumblebee platy inside. I thought that she might have more by this afternoon. Well it's almost 7pm now and nothing. She is still really big and has a very dark gravid spot. I was wondering if I should leave her in the breeder box over night or should I release her back into the tank. I have live floating hornwort and other plastic floating plants that I can add for pertection of any baby fry that might be born. I also have alot of live plants in that tank also. I don't want to leave her in the box for more then a few days. A day prior to her having the baby I noticed that she was chasing the 1 month old bumblebee away so I put that in my 20 gal. with my other 3 bumblebee platies thinking she might have her babies soon. Any advice would be great as I do not know what to do.

I'd just leave em in the tank. I doubt the cory or even the pleco would be very interested in devouring the fry, and it sounds like there are plenty of places to hide from mommy if she gets a little hungry. I'd say the biggest threat to my fry has always been the filter intake.
My molly mammas tend to give birth in spurts of about 10 a day for a few days, so I suspect you probably have some more on the way.
good luck, hope to hear about - and see photos of ;) - some new fry in the next couple days!!

Thanks for the reply back as I was waiting for a reply. I will let her out of the breeder box then and put more floating plants for the babies to hide in. I will post later in the week on how many she has. Thanks again.l
