Filtration: Drawing Water From The Top & Bottom?

I am mr.newguy setting up a saltwater FOWLR system and I am looking to buy a good wet/dry setup...

If my filtration come only from water provided by the overflow is that ok? Do I need to draw water from deeper within the aquarium as well?

Thank You!
-Todd

BTW

I am looking to buy the:
Marineland Tidepool II BIO-Wheel Filtration Module & SOS Pre-filter from www.drsfostersmith.com

You dont need an intake down there but you need some current down there to get the bits of crap up there to the intake of your overflow. You can just use some powerheads. Or you could use a canister filter for flow and too suck up the poopy.
Make sure to clean your bio-weel often, those trap alot of crap in them. Are you gunna get a skimmer? It would be nice to save you some dough on salt.

As TR said, you'll need plenty of flow in the tank to keep the detritus suspended until it overflows.
