Compatability Question - Sengal Bichir, Opaline Gourami, Red Belly Pacu?
How well would this mix be compatable in a 150 gallon long?
I think 150g is far too small for pacu. They get over a foot easily (and can reach two feet) plus need to be in a school. I'd also be wary of mixing the bichir with the gourami as the bichir is quite predatory and if large enough might be able to eat the gourami unless the gourami were fully grown.
Compatibility wise, I think the pacu and bichir would be fine, as long as the pacu was larger. I think they would both outgrow the gourami, but they could be fine for a while.
In a perfect world, pacu should not even be sold as pets, but you could house one in a 100+ for several years if you wanted to. In tanks, they only like to school when very young, older pacus usually become somewhat pugnatious toward their own kind, kind of like giant tetras.
