Kitty going deaf!
First of all, I want to say that I love my Nicky Kitty very much.
He's 12 this year and I've had him since I was about 14. He's a tonk. We also have his brother from the same litter.
I seriously suspect that Nicholas is going deaf. He walks around the house at all hours yowling or literally SCREAMING. He does it during the day, at night, all the freaking time. I leave my door open during the day while I'm home (I go to school) and I close it when I go to sleep or when I'm at class (I do it to keep them out of my curtains). I know he's not looking for attention because he'll just come up and plop down.
He likes "acoustic" rooms. He likes my mom's bathroom and the dining room. I've read that cats doing this are going deaf and are wanting to reassure themselves that it's their voice.
PLEASE HELP, GUYS. THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS.
I've never had a cat go deaf so I can't help you there. My dog, Brownie, went deaf (or nearly deaf, anyway) in his final years but the only really annoying aspects of it were that he couldn't hear us call him. He also "imagined" sounds every once in a while and would start barking at nothing, but it wasn't often enough to really be a problem. Wish I had more advice for you!
Poor kitty :(
Maybe your vet will have some advice for you. I've never had this happen and I had a cat that lived to be 20.
Hope you get some relief soon.
