Fin nipping

I have an 18 gallon tank with 10 fish in it,i have 2 serpa tetras that are fin nipping every fish in the tank,i dont have room for any more fish in the tank so does anyone know what to do with these nasty little fish before they start killing my other fish?

Serpae tetra are highly known as fin nippers. One way to TRY to alleviate the nipping is to increase the school. Since your tank is fully stocked, I'd take them back to your local fish store to trade them in for something else. What else do you have in the tank?

P.S. Welcome to the forum! You're going to love it here! There are some very knowledgable people that are always willing to help.

+1 to Lisa. If it were my tank (and it's not) I'd return them. They are notorius fin nippers if not kept in a large enough school. Beautiful but too darn nippy for my tastes.

Agreed with what has already been said. Welcome to the forum!

Another agreement. And a welcome to the Tropical Fish Keeping forum.

And if I may offer a word of advice--it pays to research fish before you buy them;-). Knowing how a certain species is probably going to behave means being able to avoid problems like the serpae tetras.

Byron.
