Wanting to start a cichlid tank and need advice...
Sup! Here in the following months Im planning on getting a 80-100 gallon tank and would really like to put cichlids in it. With doing some research I think Malawain species would be best for me as I read they tend to get along with each other easier than the other species.
This is along the lines of how I would set the tank up, feel free to critique :)
-Sand instead of gravel
-Driftwood or River Rocks...or both
In the 20 gallon I currently own, I have a pleco that Ive had since my 5 gallon. Hes bout 6 years old and I would hate to keep him in that small of a tank when theres a bigger one available, I'm pretty sure that hes a Sailfin Pleco. Would the pH lvl be too harsh for him and would the cichlids get along with him?
Are there certain plants that I wiill need to use to accomidate the high pH? If so what kind?
What kinds of Malawain cichlids are there? as Im not familiar with them
I cant think of any other questions atm so feel free to throw in any other advice! I appreciate any feedback :)
Here is a web site you could look at some Cichlids on and chose what you like.
when i had mine, there was a big plec in with them,he was in there
first though,cichlids can be very
unforgiving to anyone new going in the tank after they are in there.
Thanks guys, that site helped a lot. And I guess Illl put the pleco in first.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
We are here to help.
