My local LFS can order CPO's (I think)! Be jealous!

My Pet Supplies Plus gets their live animals from Sunpet.com (Finally got them to tell me the site so I can search the catalog myself- have to call PSS for a price when I find something tho.)

For my two tanks (maybe the 10G guppy too) I want more inverts... I'm thinking I'll stock the 5G filterless first so they will breed.

The site has "Small Mexican Orange Crawfish CAMBARELLUS PATZCUARENSIS" which I THINK is a CPO.
Right?

They also have:
Amano Shrimp for 3-4 bucks
Cherry Red Shrimp for 3-4 bucks
Orange Bee Shrimp Would assume 3-4 bucks
Mole Shrimp No idea.

Which would do best in a 5G invert tank with gravel/sand over soil?
(The tank finally established! I have 4 male guppies now just to keep everything balanced)
The tank has some MTS and a couple ramshorns too...
I imagine 5-8 might be enough to get them breeding?

Hey,
I can't answer your questions, but thank you for posting the site. They have a store about 20 minutes from me that I never knew of (in the next state over). I'm going to check them out this weekend :-)

Cool, glad I could help.
They also sell "feeder guppies" that look remarkably like Endlers...

YES that is a CPO. Cambarellus Patzcuarensis orange crayfish (CPO for short). I got one off Aqua bid last week. They're so cool here's a few pics of mine.

about half way down

Oh I've been to that topic several times. He's adorable-

Your post about him digging a little cave is what made me want one. :)
I have no idea how much PSS would want for one...
If they're relatively cheap, maybe I can try to breed them and sell them to the forum members!

that would be great!!!! he or she now has two caves dug out. When I turn the lights on in the moring he's in a cave he dug underneath a large overhanging plant leaf. Then when the lights are on he's off to his original cave he dug under a rock. He cannot bother any fish except, I have seen him attack my albino corys when they get to close to his rock cave.

oh just an FYI for comparison i paid 26.99 w free priority shipping

That's the same supplier my guys here use - Where you at if I may ask?

I'd def not add 5-6 CPOs for breeding in a 5g for 5-6 CPOs adult size and behavior during breeding time I'd from my exp not go with less sq ft then a 20g. For the 5g I'd then rather suggest Bee or Cherry Shrimp. Again Amano's also grow larger.

Alabama... I think all petsupplies plus use them.
Other stores probably do too.

Do you think a CPO would get along with ghost shrimp ok? If so I'll add 1 or 2 to my 10G livebearer tank. (not a guppy tank anymore. :D)

KSASTER2 03-26-2010 01:30 PM

yeh i checked the website link you left and found that the PETCO's around me use them

redchigh 03-26-2010 01:43 PM

Hmm. I better go ahead and order them...
If everyone orders them they might run out before I get mine- lol!
