Red Claw Crab
Got one of these little guys.
They're pretty feisty, and he escaped twice. I finally sealed up the area around the filter (where he would crawl up).
Anyway, here's a pic
Anyone else have one of these?
is it freshwater??? is it in with fish if yes what sort??? and how much does it cost???
Yes they're freshwater. They do however need acess to land. They are NOT fully aquatic. They 're not real expensive at all. In my LFS 1.99. The people in the LFS may say there fully aquatic but they definatly are not don't be fooled.
Yup, they'll need some access to land.
I paid 2.97 plus tax for it.
He escaped, even though I sealed up the exits, lol. I think he managed to squeeze through.
Found him on the ground under some stuff about 12 hours later, dead.
Sorry to hear about that! They're famous escape artists. If only they knew that the outside world isn't quite the paradise they seem to think it is...
I think this summer I'm going to set up my 5.5 gallon, and make it a crab/shrimp tank :D
I've also read that these crabs do better in mildly brackish water than in pure freshwater, so you might want to try that in your next attempt.
And I did have salt in the tank, but not much, less than they had in the pet store.
