Will my angelfish ever breed?!
Will my angels ever breed?! I've had them for about 8 months now and so they are probably 9 months old. :P My big black one seems to now have an interest in the white one. They have been hanging around this area the last two-three weeks or so and are always facing the upright driftwood.... I wonder if they may lay eggs? x_x not the best vid! They used to be picking at the plants now they just kinda sit in their area...
Few things to consider: one is the nutritional status of the female. Laying eggs is considered to deplete a lot of nutrients from the fish (that's why, fish are eating their own eggs if something "tells" them that fry don't have a chance to survive). Second: Amazon fish like angels, tend to spawn when water becomes softer and temporary colder than the one they are in. And that is explained by fact that you mimic the raining season coming, a sign (for fish) that water level will increase giving fry a better chance to survive.
my angelfish finally laid eggs and then ate them, they tried 2 more timesand i got fry swimming then they ate them...then I placed them in a 40g tank all their own and walla they have babies that are now 27 days old and I have 2 parents that are very protective!
My suggestion get a large tank at least a 40g for just them. Set it up with 2 angels plus seeded sponges to help with the bio load.
