I was wondering if you guys knew anything about brackish tanks. I know someone who has one and is having problems with green algae on the right side of the tank where the sun comes in. Would more water flow remove or prevent this? I hope I am posting this in the right part of the forum.
Saltwater and brackish water are different.:) I would check your nitrates and phosphates. Where is the tank located? What are your water parameters? What are the occupants of the tank and what size is the tank?
Seems the thread is about brackish water maintenance but I'd rather it stays here so brackish water owners will find it easy to search for threads they want to read.:)
I know its a 90g corner its right by a french door in there new addition to the house. The sun shine through the side of the tank where there is a window and the door. That where the problem is the most. I don't know what the water conditions are but I do know they have 4 or 5 mo nos, a puffer and some other little guy. I know the tank is pretty healthy they did have a snail problem a few months ago. Any ideas?
You'll need a test kit to know what exactly is causing the green water phenomenon.:)
Noob warning: all advice state below is subject to be deemed utter idiocy
That aside... :D
Move the tank to where there is no direct sunlight. I read somewhere that direct sunlight encourages algal blooms, and can affect the water temp quite a bit, making life a little more stressful on the fishies.
Hope all works out for your friend!
you can just buy thing to scrub the algae off the side...
