Could my Platy be pregnant?

Hi. I own a 56 gallon tank. In it we have 2 platies. We are postive one is a boy and one is a girl. The girl one is kind of getting fat. Just the 2 platies go into our little cave thing where we cant see them cause it is dark in the 'cave'. So recently we have seen the girl platy looks like she is getting fatter. I dont know anything about breeding platies! Is she pregant? Do they have live babies? Should i put the girl in our breeders tank? Please help me!!!!:-?

if you have a boy and girl platy together, the chances are that yes she is pregnant. what else do you have in the tank? anything besides the parents that will eat the fry? if there are enough hiding spots and few predators, you should have some fry survive without doing anything at all.
