Upgrading to a canister filter
I finally ordered a Eheim Classic 2213 for my 29g planted. I currently have an Aqua Clear 50 on the tank which def. does NOT keep the water crystal clear. As I've said in previous posts I have A lot of tiny white particles suspended in my water. I believe they come from my Tap water. My question is should I keep the Aqua Clear on the tANK when I put the Eheim on or should it be one or the other. I have read some reviews that say the Eheim is not powerful enough for a 29g even though it's rated for up to 66. I guess is gp/h is not very high.
Thanks for the info.
Also I was thinking during pwc to add spring water instead of tap water to try to cut down on these tiny particles, I'm really hoping that the Eheim will take care of them though.

The 2213 NOT being powerful enough for a 29 is flat out BS. As I said yesterday that's PLENTY filtration for a 29g!!
Once you get your Ehim what I'd do is take any & all filter media you have in the HOB and shuff it in to the Eheim that way you take over all your beneficial bacteria. If you do not do this you will possibly run another mini cycle on the tank so careful there.
About the fine particles you have issues with top off the Eheim canister with very fineeee filter pads up top. Adding spring water I'd be careful cause if you have hardish water from the tap and add soft spring water you may expose your fish there to a pH swing that's not healthy. So if anything test the spring waters pH & KH first.

DOES it come with very fine filter media or do I have to buy it. If I have to buy it what do you recommend. I know the fine white particles don't harm my fish they're just really unsightly. It's a shame to have the tank looking so nice and have this problem. I mean everything else is perfectly fine ph ammonia nitrite nitrate temp. I dont know what else to do

It comes with all the filter media. The issue with shoving all the media in the Eheim is the sponge will not fit, trust me. They are thick as heck and the canister is pretty small. I love it. What I did is add all the biomax from my AquaClear into the Eheim canister for Beneficial Bacteria. Just mix it in with the Ehfisubstrat section. Then I took the sponge from the AquaClear and just placed it in the tank near the outtake of the Eheim. I left the sponge in the tank for about 2 weeks, but that was because I did a complete change with swapping out the gravel and everything so I lost a lot of Beneficial Bacteria. You can probably do less because your Beneficial Bacteria isn't being disturbed in the rest of the tank and some old media from your AquaClear will be in the new filter. Hope this makes sense.

thanks Lisa, does the filter take care of "very FINE" particles?

It should better than your AquaClear. It comes with several pads, one removing fine particles. Is this tank planted with live plants? I would suggest not even adding the carbon pad. I only use it after medicating to remove the excess medication.

In a planted tank I would not waste effort using old filter media from the existing filter in the new Eheim. Thewre will be absolutely no benefit, and given your situation might actually be the opposite [thinking of the particles, they might be imbedded in the old media and get released into the tank again]. Plants do the filtration anyway, the canister filter is only to remove the suspended particulate matter (which was your initial issue) so set it up with the pads and media and let it do its job. I agree, don't use the carbon pad, it is not going to do anything beneficial, and in fact is detrimental to plants as it removes nutrients.
