Is this a good deal for plants?
I have been offered an 8x12" section of java moss and 3 large marimo balls for $35. It is form someone about 45 mins from me who has just a planted tank (no fish). is this a good price?? he also offered to sell me a coralife fixture (or some other similar name??) 24" light for $75 total, including those plants. I'm leaning toward just the plants.
Is this a good deal???
I think iit is a good deal......i get a ball of java moss (approx 1/2 cup) for 8-9 $ at my LFs.....
I say no, it's not. 8x12" java moss is likely started from a small plant and grown out. So the cost to start this and get it to this size is minimal. That's more than I paid or almost what I paid to fully plant my 55g heavily. He's charging for convenience of the java moss being grown out that far.
I'd say it depends... If, for some reason, you can't order online, then I guess it's okay...
If you order online, (ORder from SweetAquatics.com if you're in the USA, if not, try Ebay or aquabid)You can probably plant your whole tank and have some money left over... (I planted 2 small tanks for about $15, and I mostly just bought stem plants. Large rooted plants are a little bit more expensive but usually much bigger.)
Molliefan... I think you may need a new LFS. I've never heard of any store selling a portion that size for over 5-6 dollars...
