Dalmation vs Marble (Mollie Colours)
Hi there. I was at the petstore today to buy a nice male for my silver females and I brought home a "Marble" Sailfin Mollie. He is mainly black with white speckles.
Is Dalmation black spots on white, and Marble white spots on black?
lol thats a tough question lol but i think dalmation is white with black spots and im not sure about marble.
I bought a male dalmation mollie in January or December to breed with my female silver mollies. When I bought him, he was almost all white with about ten black spots. Very cute! Now he nearly resembles the "marble" mollies as his black spots have multiplied. Also my female lyretail dalmation molly started mostly white with only three or five black spots (and two orange spots) and she has since gotten a lot darker. As for the marble mollies, I have no experience with them, other than seeing them in pet stores once in a while.
Marbles have a more mixed coloring where dalmatians are just that, spots all over. lol. i have both kind in my tank and i can clearly see why the are called diff names.
