Best places to buy plants?
I'm starting my first planted tank and have been very impressed with the knowledge and help found on this forum. My only problem now is that my local pet store doesn't carry live plants and the Pesmart 40 miles away only has the packaged plants in gel.Are these worth trying or would I be better off ordering online and if so where?
Hands down, www.sweetaquatics.com. As more peoplefrom the US see this post, they will say the same thing. They have an amazing selection, GREAT prices, and even better customer service. Delivery is quick and plants are very well packed. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. If you look at my aquarium tab on the left, all my plants came from there.
Thnanks for the advice. Both of your tanks look great.I hope I can get mine to look that good.
+1 on sweetaquatics - Great quality and fair prices and after a certain amount its free shipping too I can only recommend them as I did to anyone else on the forum already.
If you look at these set up's of mine you can see plants, that's all from SA right there....
Ya sweetaquatics is good. (: Big selection (way bigger than petsmart and such), good customer service, cheap prices (you'll end up ahead even w/ shipping if you buy there instead of a pet store, I saw water wisteria at this pet store for 4$ and its 1.50$ at sweetaquatics, and mine came bigger than the pet store's), and good quality plants come. (: Seems everyone at this forum uses them (thats how I heard of em) and everyone is way more than satisfied with their plants! :D
LOL I thought for sure Angel would be the first one to post here-
Everyone likes sweet aquatics, but she's a DIE HARD fan.
Yes, I love them too.
Plus, if you have a small tank (like mine) You can email them first..
They might be able to send you smaller bunches/specimens at a lower price.
I ordered six plants, (paid for 6) and told them I was planting a small tank...
They sent me slightly smaller bunches, but added several species I didn't even ask for. They will also send you some MTS, Ramshorns, or Pond snails free if you ask.
(None of them have eaten my plants- MTS are highly reccomended, and my favorite, although it's crazy to watch the pond snails crawl on the underside of the water surface.
Yoda/ Very interesting creatures, snails are. /Yoda
Mary (the main person there) is great.
SA sweet aquatics... New planted tank owner here. Awsome. Order from them!!!!
+1 on every1
I'm really interested in that website, SA. I have a few questions though (Sorry to steal from the OP!)
How much is shipping, usually? And some of their plants I'm interested in are sold out, how long is it on average until they're avaliable again? And I also want some nerite snails, if anybody has ordered snails from them, have you ever had one dead? Thank you :)
I ordered a nerite snail 2 weeks ago. As soon as I took it out ofthe bag and put it in the tak, it went to work. IF yours does happen to arrive dead, they will send you out a new one free of charge. Their customer service is impeccible. Shipping really depends. A purchase of $45 of more qualifies for free shipping. Less than $45 it really depends onthe weight. BUT they only charge for the shipping cost, nothing is inflated. If something you want is out of stock or you have additional questions or would likesuggestions from them, you can simply email them and they will answer all your questions for you.
Just going to add to the SweetAquatics support. Buy from them. Case stated.
