Question concerning ich.

Ich... intrigues me... it just makes no sense to me no matter how much I read/experience it.

Anyways, here's my question/dilemma... A couple of my baby fish, for over a month or two, have, on rare occassions, had a couple ich spots. \

So, a month ago a few of my baby fish had one or two spots on them (usually just one) and they would go away and not come back for a long time (usually didn't come back to that particular fish). This lasted weeks and I never had an outbreak. And finally I just didn't see it again. Didn't treat it.

Now, about a month after this, I notice one (and maybe two) has one ich spot on it...

I don't understand why it just appears to be gone (I think ich can be present but not visible?) but then it comes back, and never causes an outbreak?

I hate having to constantly worry that it's going to end up as an outbreak.

Haven't added any new fish for a long time...

Can someone help me understand ich better? X.x

Getting ready to go to the fish store so I'll read that when I get back. Seems quite long. Thanks for that article though. (:
