Tattooed Platy?!

Hi, I just got this fish from a small pet store. It was posted as a "Tattooed Plady", I looked that up, no such thing (as i saw), So i was thinking Tattoed Platy. With looking that up, I realized that they really do tattoo fish. Is mine really Tattoed or is that just how it is?

It looks like it was injected with color

I seen tattooed platy at a store they had stripes, hearts and words on them like ''Love'' I don't know much about it though.

They are injected with stupid chemicals, the same thing those creeps do to blood parrots...
It's cruel, it hurts really bad and it shortens the life of the fish.
Never buy that kind of fish, ever, stop encouraging those monsters, the more they sell the mroe they torture! You will end up with fish that lives way less than it should and tattooed fish are more susceptible to disease.
Did i mention it's cruel and pointless? Also the colors will fade.
And it's cruel!

Yeah I didn't know exactly how it was done. My friend and I just looked at each other when we seen them. We didn't know if they would draw on them or inject them or what but didn't really seem right or humane even without getting into details. It was around Valentines day which accounts for the Love and hearts and what not. I was disappointed in seeing one of my LFS doing something like that *sigh* :-( But I can see how it can be easy for someone not too familiar with fish and things to purchase with out really knowing, especially with just stripes. Now Jennaaa will know and also know to take extra care of the one she has since it's def had a rough life so far. Good Luck Jennaaa!

Thanks guys! He seems to be doing fine. (: But, none of the colors have faded yet.

Yes that is a tattooed fish. Personally I would @&!^@ at the store and never go back their again if they are selling tattooed fish. Also that is a molly not a platy. This also speaks poorly of this store, if they cannot even tell the difference between two of the most common livebearers.

+1 @ Mikaila31 I'd also never support this because it plain cruel to fish being tattooed in some 3rd world country by lil kids for a few cents profit start to finish of that whole 'process' is just not right on n level and I'd personally never support this and for as long as people buy these fish they'll abuse any fish and try make a quick buck of it, not right....

I've never heard of a platy (Or I guess it's a molly) being tattooed. Poor guy. Look after him well, he's had a rough go. And please don't buy any more!

Jenaaa, take really good care of your fish. If you do have any questions for it's care, do not hesitate to ask. I know there are a lot of good people here with great recommendations.
