- - Algae issues

It's been a while since I posted anything here. I'm having a little trouble with my new angelfish tank. The pleco I traded away a while ago must have been a really good algae cleaner. The flower pot I put in is now growing a ring of algae, and one of my artificial plants is turning black on the ends from algae. I'm sure that a good scrub will get the algae off, but I'm pretty sure it will come back. A couple of weeks ago there was a lot of algae growing on the gravel, and some on the glass. So is there an algae cleaner (live fish) that will work and not eat any eggs my angels lay?

The short answer is, no. Any fish with the opportunity will greedily devour fish eggs.
You mention a fake plant--are there any live plants in this tank? Algae occurs when light and nutrients are present, and in planted aquaria we aim to keep the balance between them so plants use the nutrients and light and algae is out-competed. Without plants, there is nothing to compete with the algae. Reducing the light and making sure there is not more food than the fish need will help. If you have no live plants, the light can be significantly reduced in either or both intensity and duration.

I'd not even bother adding a 'special' fish for the algae - Get your tank balanced between live plants/nutrition/light/water maintenance and volia you're set for a algae free tank with no extra fish :-)

Well, I was thinking of a small-mouthed fish. I'm assuming the eggs are about 1/2 cm in diameter, but I've never seen angel eggs anywhere but on the internet. I have the one banana plant I just recently got, but nothing besides that. I think I can get the rest of what I need with the money I have, so I hope it works out.
Wait... there's shipping too. :-( Maybe I don't have enough money.

Freddy, just limit the light for now.
