how do I test my water for copper?
I know there are tests, but they seem a little expensive.
Couldn't I just buy a ghost shrimp and see if it survives?
(They're sold as feeders, so they're super cheap.)
I understand expensive is a matter of view point but the liquid API copper test is like 5-6 bucks? And I'd pref that of the "live" test any day of the week :-)
Edit freshly rehomed shrimp often have 2-3 from a gang die anyway sooo that would then tell you what? How would you determine if they died due to rehoming or copper?
I can afford 6 bucks.
When I did a quick search online they were all close to $15 plus shipping.
I'll call my local LFS and see if they can get it for under $7.
(The only LFS in my area is Pet Supplies Plus- and they're pretty crappy, but can order a lot of things...
I only sell on aquabid, they can get most things I want to buy. Except thai micro crabs. :/)
I'd check the chain stores locally so you avoid shipping cost, I know our Petsmart here has them (checked that because of my shrimp farms back when lol)
(although I've noticed it only holds a little under 3G with gravel and everything. Is it a 3G tank or a 5G I wonder...
Should have asked me right away - You should know better then that by now :-)
Hm either you have a ton gravel in there or you were sold a 3g for a good rice :-) What ya wanna keep - You know I'm shrimp addict so I gotta know. And of cause had you read my shrimp guide yet? lol
