Old light system, new bulbs? O.o

Hey, i'm converting my fw tank into a salt water, and i'm trying to save money. could i jus use the light fixture i already have and just buy stronger light bulbs? What type of light bulb should i use? and how much would it cost? It would be for a reef aquarium :) thanks

What is the tank depth? Also, when you say reef, do you have experience with reef systems already? Will you be satisfied with soft corals only, and not get into any of the more difficult light loving species?

no, it would be my first...i already plan on taking things VERY SLOW...the tank is about 2.5 feet deep. And how can you tell the difference in corals?

You have to click the "add new post" button right above the quick reply box. There is a "manage attachments" button underneath the text box on the next screen. You can upload attachmnets there and then use the paperclip and attach your images.

You can also use tinypic.com and copy the linkin the text box: "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" and paste it in the message.
