How hard are Johanni to keep?
In a 75 gallon tank, and how many to keep?

Did you go with the Demasoni's? Johanni's can get a little agresive but are not to bad.
Which ones are you looking at geting?

Grimmjow 03-10-2010 10:11 PM

I dunno which im going to get yet, like half the things i hear about the demasoni is the just keep killing each other and no stores around me sell them but i did find one that sells johannis. Also i like with the johannis how the females are yellow and the makes blue, which is like the perfect color combo.

In your 75 gallon i would do 4 males 8 females. There will be some breeding going on tho.
What other kinds of fish are you wanting to put in with them?

Grimmjow 03-11-2010 12:46 AM

I kinda just wanted a species only tank

mollies 03-11-2010 08:32 AM

Then do 6 males 12 females. I would add them all at once, to keep the agrestion down.

Grimmjow 03-11-2010 10:53 AM

I thought adding that many fish at once is a bad thing and would kill them, overkill on the bioload or whatever its called.

mollies 03-11-2010 12:46 PM

Well Yes it is bad. Now if you do it right you will be ok.
First you add your fish. Then later that night do a 1/3 water change.
Every day for the next week do a 20 to 30% water change.
By adding all of them at once is to Eliminate agrrestion. So that way one dont get picked on.
I do it all the time that way. I wouldnt tell you to do it if i didnt think you couldnt or didnt do your research first. lol You sound like you Realy Have done your research. I wouldnt tell some to do that if they have just ask in there first post.
Also your tank is large with a lot of water, so it would take a lot of new baby fish to start trouble without doing your proper water changes.
I would only feed them 2 times a day a little at a time so that way your ammonia dont spike.

Ive done quite a bit of research lol, and i think thats the problem. I know some about a lot of things instead of a lot on this one thing, that and Im so indecisive Im still not sure exactly what i want to do with this tank.
