Great stroke of luck

Today I got the offer from one of my best friends moms for a 55g aquarium and a stand...FREE. I am so excited even though I have enough tanks already XD. But there is no way I can pass it up. haha just sharing. Although I was wondering how many discus would be able to fit in a aqaurium that large?

Thats awesome luck. My friend had a 125g tank he would have gave me but I cant have any tanks. I get away with my 10g though lol. Good luck with the tank! Is it going to be just them or others? I think if its just them 3 or 4 may be alright but Im not a Discus expert.

How about several groups of tetras and cories with a pair or two of blue rams or other apistogrammas?

Discus would need a tank larger than a 55g. I keep 6 in a 90g that is pretty well planted and has plenty of wood. My breeder colonies (5 colonies) share a 220g in the basement. each colony consists of 3-5 fish. The 220g, again, is pretty well planted. It seems that the fish acclimate better to a more heavily planted tank, with lots of wood. I found a couple of peices of wood, well branched, at one of my lfs's. Looks nice and the fish like the security.
