New Cory Cat
I just got a Cory Catfish yesterday as an addition to my tank which held two black mollies. I'm wondering how i know if he's eating enough? my mollies like to eat EVERYTHING IN SIGHT. I've read that shrimp pellets would be good for them? Is this similar to tropical "granules" which i accidently bought once instead of flakes when I was in a rush and the fish just don't really like eating them b/c they are hard and they just spit em out. I'm just concerned that if I buy it he won't be able to eat it. Also, since catfish are omivores the shrimp pellets just wouldn't suffice?
Any type of pellet or tablet food that sinks will work; the mollies may pick at it too, as my tetras all do, but the catfish get their share. And putting the sinking food in just after lights out as 1077 mentioned is a good idea, as Corydoras are active at night when the mollies are not, and they will find it by smell, they have an acute sense of smell.
How many corys do you have? They should always be in a group, they are very social and being alone will stress the fish making it susceptible to other health problems and disease. Three is sufficient in a small tank. They can be the same species (preferred by the corys) or sometimes different species, but they need company.
Oh =/ I have a 10 gallon tank. And I had only gotten the one catfish b/c the guy told me the other kinds were going to grow to big for my tank, but that this one was fine. Ergh, I should go back and get another?
I'd get two more of the same species.
