does petco buy fish
me and my girlfriend are planning on breeding her guppys and my zebra danios.... you think petco would buy them off of me or would i have to go to my LFS?
most chain petstores or lfs will not give u money for fry, they may take something off a product that u buy there but will not give u cash. i found a little back street fish store that specialise in cichlids and keep livebearers, he said he will give me 50p each!
I wouldn´t consider selling them to Petco, Petsmart or something else either.
Imagine that your healthy fish would be thrown into a broth of chemicals, antibiotics and salt. Most of them wouldn´t survive that.
Try smaller fish stores or even craigslist but always consider you might not find someone who´s willing to take or buy your fish and you have to keep them.
Petsmart's as they are called in the UK, do not actually own there stock. They are supplied by a company who give a cut to them. Which explains the high prices. Contrary to popular belief not all Petsmarts are bad. And there dry goods are very resonably priced.
I would check with your LFS to see if they will buy the babies. Most will buy them but you will run into a problem. Most sotres will want them large enough to be positively identified and possibly large enough to be sexed. Make sure you have the room to take care of the numbers you want to sell and know when the LFS will take them.
