possible fungus problem?
So, I havent seen my blood parrot cichlid in a couple days, and just assumed that she took up a new hobby of hiding under things. tonight was weird though...she was out in the middle of the tank and she looked...well...drunk. She was swimming very oddly, staying close to the bottom of the tank, and upon quarantining her i found that she has brownish gray spots all over her body.
Could this be a fungus perhaps? What would cause that? How can i treat it?
Actually, now i'm thinking swim bladder. i actually have peas, but have no clue how to get her to eat them
Can you take some pictures?
Also, would you be able to post your water parameters (temperature, pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, hardness if you can measure it)?
Ok, i attached two pictures...they're not that great, but give you the general idea of the condition she's in (which is not great at the moment). Its obviously hard to see, but she looks dirty, with big brown patches all over her fins.
pH, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite and temp are all normal. i dont have a test for hardness. there's salt in the water with her right now. and peas. lots of peas.
sorry those are so big. i have no clue how to make it smaller
Hmm. I don't really see the patches you're talking about. The fish does look quite washed out though (even undyed parrots usually have a decent amount of color to them). It's hard to tell but the gill areas also look a bit inflamed, which could be a sign of ammonia poisoning.
How long have you had this fish? How big is the tank it's normally kept in and what other fish are kept with it? Can you post the water parameters (pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)?
